Rodney Barnes has now worked with three artists through four issues of Nita Hawes’ Nightmare Blog, yet this story has not skipped a beat. This thing has been turned up to 10 from the jump. Barnes and Szymon Kudranski may have completely ripped the knob off with Nita Hawes’ Nightmare Blog #4.

Like the artists who handled the previous three issues of Nita Hawes’ Nightmare Blog before him, Kudranski is a talented horror artist. From the start of this title, Barnes has created a space for his artists to go nuts. And while the opening arc has featured an interesting story, the epic violence in these first four issues are what blow my mind most each issue.
What also captured me this issue: the depth added to Howling Henry’s story. He was already an interesting character, and we had an idea of what led him down the path he’s taken. But the first few pages of this issue hit really hard. I’m sure plenty of readers could empathize with Howling Henry before Nita Hawes’ Nightmare Blog #4, but things got even heavier this issue.
On top of all that, Barnes and Kudranski really turn up the heat at the end of this issue. No reason to expect next issue won’t be just as crazy, if not more so, than this week’s.
