Image Set to Launch BIG GIRLS in August
Image Comics has announced a new series that will be arriving in comic shops in August. Writer and artist Jason Howard (Trees) is set to unleash his new series “Big Girls” on the comic reading population later this summer.
Image released a press release that stated the following:
Featuring the fast-paced action—similar to such films as John Wick and series like Paper Girls—and the bigger than life characters of Godzilla and Pacific Rim, this series is set to be a Summer hit readers won’t want to miss.
Big Girls #1 (Diamond Code JUN200012) will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, August 12.
Big Girls #1 will also be available for purchase across many digital platforms, including the official Image Comics iOS app, Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, comiXology, and Google Play.

The concept appears to be pulling from a number of popular franchises, which doesn’t guarantee success. Yet, it’s hard to argue that there won’t be some general interest in the initial offering from Image just for readers to check out exactly what this story is about.
Howard’s last hit series “Trees” was penned by Warren Ellis. That series thrived off of layered story telling and character driven narratives. Can Howard reproduce the same magic by himself? This seems to be far removed from serious story telling. Giant women fighting monsters doesn’t seem to have the same potential… but who knows?!? The proof will be in issue one.
