Recently both Dwayne Johnson and Geoff Johns had a meeting regarding the state of Shazam. Almost nothing is known about the project besides that New Line Cinema is helping produce it and Dwayne Johnson will star as the films antagonist Black Adam. This is a passion project for Dwayne Johnson who has been circling the role for the better part od a decade. Now while no one has been cast as teen Billy Batson and his adult alter-ego Shazam (Originally Captain Marvel).
The guys over at Batman-News have discovered that Geoff Johns has recently followed on Twitter both longtime Dwayne Johnson collaborators; producers Beau Flynn & Hiram Garcia as well as director Brad Peyton. Brad Peyton directed Dwayne Johnson in his past two films Journey 2: The Mysterious Island and San Andreas. He was also up directing Lobo with DC Comics back several years ago…with you guessed it Dwayne Johnson. It isn’t out of the question that Dwayne Johnson might bring him back to do Shazam. Beau Flynn as also produced many Dwayne Johnson flicks including this years Baywatch. Hiram Gracia is already confirmed to be producing Shazam under Dwayne Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions.
Of course, this is pure speculation until an official announcement comes from DC or Warner Brothers…
