After the success of IT, there had been an assumption a studio would make a large offer to Andy Muschietti to tackle a large project once he finished up with IT: Chapter 2.
Variety now reports that will indeed be another Warner Bros. movie. As he is reportedly set to direct a live-action feature film based on the manga/anime Attack On Titan.
Muschietti will direct a feature film adaptation of “Attack on Titans” for Warner Bros. The studio finalized a deal with Japan-based publishing company Kodansha on Monday.
Set in a world in which humanity lives in cities surrounded by enormous walls protecting themselves from gigantic humanoids that are referred to as titans.
A production timetable hasn’t been revealed but it’s expected that prep won’t begin until after IT: Chapter 2’s release next September. This might suggest filming in 2020 and a release date in 2021.
