J.K. Simmons Will Play The New Commissioner Gordon In ‘Justice League’

Mar 7, 2016

The Hollywood Reporter has new casting news concerning Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which will begin shooting this April.

They’ve learned that Oscar winning actor J.K. Simmons (Spider-Man, Whiplash, Juno) has landed the role longtime ally and confidant of Batman, Commissioner Gordon.

Some rumors had suggested that Gordon had been killed-off and wouldn’t be apart of Batman v Superman, but it looks like they’ll actually be using him in Justice League.

It’ll likely lead to Simmons also being apart of Ben Affleck’s The Batman as well.

Some fans and Simmons himself were hoping that he could reprise the iconic J. Jonah Jameson role in Marvel’s upcoming Spider-Man reboot, but this might be the final nail in the coffin. Considering these actors sign non-competing clauses, and that Justice League will be shooting the same time as Spider-Man, it looks unlikely he’ll be returning to that role.

Amber Heard was also linked for the role of Mera, as the character’s addition was seemingly confirmed with a behind the scenes image recently posted by Snyder.
