Omega Underground was the first outlet to reveal that director James Mangold would next tackle his Ford vs Ferrari film, with projects like The Force and Boba Fett also on the table at the time. The film stars Christian Bale and Matt Damon.
Based on a true story, the film follows an eccentric, determined team of American engineers and designers, led by automotive visionary Carroll Shelby [Damon] and his British driver, Ken Miles [Bale], who are dispatched by Henry Ford II with the mission of building from scratch an entirely new automobile with the potential to finally defeat the perennially dominant Ferrari at the 1966 Le Mans World Championship.
Filming locations previously mentioned by us include in California [Orange County, Kern County, San Bernardino, San Rosa], New Orleans [Big Easy Studios] and Georgia along with new confirmation that there will also be filming locations in France including Paris and Le Mans.
Filming is said to be well underway and wrapping in late October.
The film’s key crew members consists of cinematographer Phedon Papamichael, production designer François Audouy, and stunt coordinator Robert Nagle.
Fox has set the film’s release date for June 28, 2019.
