New Line’s upcoming secret horror film from director James Wan (‘The Conjuring,’ ‘Aquaman’) now has Annabelle Wallis onboard as the first cast member. However, her character, as well as the plot, is under wraps.
Wallis was recently in the Showtime miniseries ‘The Loudest Voice.’ Other roles include the aptly titled ‘Annabelle,’ also from New Line, the BBC series ‘Peaky Blinders,’ and New Line’s ‘Tag.’ Next, she will appear in Joe Carnahan’s ‘Boss Level’ and Robin Pront’s ‘The Silencing,’ both without release dates.
Moreover, Wan and Ingrid Bisu crafted the story, while the screenplay credit is still unclear.
Additionally, on August 2nd, Wan gave some insight on this new project on Instagram:
“I’m super excited to go back to my indie roots with this hard-R thriller. An original horror idea (not a reboot/remake or anything based on existing IP) with old school, practical effects and no giant, blue screen sets.”
Further, filming will begin September 23rd in Los Angeles. After, at the top of 2020, he will start pre-production on Warner Bros.’ ‘Aquaman 2,’ releasing December 16, 2022.
There is currently no release date yet.
