JC Chandor’s ‘Triple Frontier’ Adds ‘Solo’ Stunt Coordinator and ‘Suicide Squad’ Cinematographer

Jan 26, 2018

South American-set crime thriller Triple Frontier has had plenty of production hiccups over the last couple of years. The former Kathryn Bigelow project moved from Paramount to Netflix and saw JC Chandor (A Most Violent Year) take over as director. Chandor would also rework the script from Mark Boal (Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty).

A thriller set in the notorious border zone between Paraguay, Argentina, and Brazil where the Iguazu and Parana rivers converge.

There had been multiple rounds of casting at various stages.

In July, Deadline reported that the project was eyeing Mark Wahlberg, Garrett Hedlund (Mudbound), Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy), Pedro Pascal (Narcos, Game of Thrones), and Adria Arjona for roles. It’s unknown if the Netflix project has finalized deals with these actors.

We do have a crew update to share which could suggest that Triple Frontier is back in pre-production.

Omega Underground has learned some important crew hires for the Netflix film. The talented crew additions include cinematographer Roman Vasyanov (Fury, Suicide Squad, Bright, End of Watch), production designer Greg Berry (Detroit, Suicide Squad, Homefront, Deadpool, Captain America: Civil War, 3:10 To Yuma), stunt coordinator Steve Griffin (Solo: A Star Wars Story, Mad Max: Fury Road, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), and costume designer Jacqueline West (Live By Night, The Revenant, Benjamin Button, Argo).

It was originally planning on filming in Hawaii (we can confirm is still a production location) and Colombia under the working title North Shore/Mules, but updated production dates are currently unknown. If filming begins this year it’s likely it could drop on Netflix sometime in 2019.
