With everyone having cinematic universes, the next trend amongst studio’s seems to be giant monster movies. With Pacific Rim and Godzilla gracing our screens over the last few years, we now await the release of Skull Island and next years Pacific Rim: Uprising to continue the genre’s surprising return.
Getting in on the giant a** monster action is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The People’s Champ will star in the live action adaptation of Rampage, an old school video game about a giant reptile, a giant gorrila and a giant wolf who destroy the city.
The Rock no doubt, could probably single handedly take on all three on at once, whilst eating pizza and drinking a stein of milk. But where would the fun in that be?
So to help him out, talks are underway with Joe Manganiello (Magic Mike) and Marley Shelton (Planet Terror) to join the cast. According to THR, Manganiello will play a leader of a private military group, with Shelton playing a scientist and astronaut.
Naomie Harris (Moonlight) also recently joined the cast as a geneticist.
The Rock once again teams up with director Brad Peyton, the two previously worked on 2015’s disaster movie San Andreas together.
The plot will be stupid fun, the cast is beautiful and there’s big a** monsters going up against The Rock and co. what’s not to like?
Rampage will hit screens April, 20th 2018.
