The Last of Us is coming to HBO from creator Neil Druckman who was behind the games and is now helming the series. Many have been anxiously anticipating the casting of the shows main characters Ellie and Joel and now we now both.
The Hollywood Report announced Bella Ramsey, best know for her role on HBO’s Game of Thrones as Lyanna Mormont will be playing Ellie. The series’ main character, a 14 year old girl living on a planet ravaged by a fungus disease that turns its victims into mindless zombies. Ellie’s role is a big one as the game focuses on her journey and its safe to assume the show will as well.
Ramsey is joined by an actor who is continually making big moves in Hollywood and made a splash on Disney Plus as The Mandalorian. Deadline and Druckmann himself confirmed Pedro Pascal will be joining the Last of Us as Joel. The man tasked with ushering Ellie on her Journey across America to find answers to her past and her larger role in the dying world’s future.
The Last of Us began its development back in March of last year and got the green light in November. The series will be written by Craig Mazin with both Druckmann and Mazin executive producing. Those unfamiliar with the game are surely in for a surprise as the series follows the Joel and Ellie as they trek across America and face a dreaded wasteland full of flesh eating monsters and desperate humans.
