Joel Kinnaman Confirms Involvement In James Gunn’s ‘The Suicide Squad’

May 28, 2019

Joel Kinnaman is prepping to become Rick Flagg again.

In a recent Instagram post, the ‘Altered Carbon’ alum officially confirmed he will be returning as Sgt. Rick Flagg in the ‘Suicide Squad’ sequel.

“At the range with my great friend and teacher @kevinlvance and Lele the Italian stallion. Easing into that squad preppppp…. thanks @tarantactical for letting us use the range!”

The “squad preppppp” portion of the caption refers to the arms training he’ll go through before hopping back into the role when shooting begins this September in Atlanta.

The first movie saw Kinnaman’s Flagg lead a band of supervillains into Midway City to stop a dancing witch (who also happened to be Flagg’s girlfriend), and her plot to take over the world.

Kinnaman joins Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, and Viola Davis in the James Gunn-directed DC sequel, currently titled ‘The Suicide Squad.’ It will hit theaters in August 2021.
