John Krasinski and Platinum Dunes Developing Sci-Fi Thriller ‘Life On Mars’

Apr 12, 2018

THR reports that after the success of A Quiet Place, director John Krasinski will team with Platinum Dunes for a science fiction thriller titled Life On Mars.

Before The Martian comparisons the film is based on the short story by Cecil Castellucci titled We Have Always Lived on Mars.

A woman who is among a handful of descendants of a Martian colony long-abandoned by Earth following a cataclysm. The woman one day finds she can breathe the air on Mars, upending her world and that of her fellow colonists.

It seems to be more in vein of a futuristic take on a Mars colony setting more aliken to things Total Recall, Screamers and Aliens. Let’s see how it ultimately pans-out, what direction they plan to go compared to the original short story and how ambitious the budget will ultimately be.

There isn’t a mention if Krasinski will direct but I’m sure that could end up being an option for him if he decides to do it. Paramount is said to be looking to pick up project.

We shouldn’t be entirely shocked if Emily Blunt attaches herself to the starring vehicle as her high profile could help secure a decent sized budget.
