‘John Wick: Chapter 3’ Enters Pre-Production As Casting To Begin Soon

Dec 3, 2017

Last month, we learned that it didn’t look John Wick: Chapter 3 would make it’s reported fall shoot. Mentioning that filming would be likely pushed until the summer.

There was speculation on our part that scheduling played a large factor and how producer David Leitch would be busy with post on Deadpool 2 throughout most of the fall and winter. Lionsgate apparently wanted everyone back to keep the magic going. So they’ve been patient and pushed the production start.

It’s now been revealed to us that the film has finally entered the pre-production stage and the casting process will begin soon. This would suggest that creator and screenwriter Derek Kolstad has finished a draft of the script.

This should be a welcomed update for fans.

However, we haven’t learned where the film will shoot but it’s expected we could see a large chunk shot in New York City again. Keanu Reeves has hinted international locales in the third installment could include Jerusalem and Tokyo.

Speaking of Japan, while on the press tour for Chapter 2, Reeves was given a chance to meet legendary Japanese action film star Sonny Chiba. His films were an obvious inspiration to a character like Wick. The two seemed to fawn over each other and share a mutual respect.

We have our fingers crossed filmmakers are able to convince the Kill Bill actor to at least make a cameo in Chapter 3, not unlike Italian badass Franco “Django” Nero in the last film. The film is expected to finally reveal the High Table, the leadership that runs the world of crime and assassins. One seat on the High Table could be saved for the Yakuza and the role handed to Chiba, who admittedly loves playing bad guys.
