Chad Stahelski’s next installment in the Keanu Reeves franchise has gotten a new title: ‘John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.’ The title was announced via the film’s Twitter, alongside both a regular and motion poster.
The motion poster revealed a message for fans, stating they can get their “one hour head start” by texting “JOHN WICK” to 91099.
Later, Lionsgate released a trailer tease via the text message promotional service. The debut trailer has been given a drop date: Thursday, January 17th.
‘John Wick: Chapter 3’ started production under the working title ‘Parabellum.’ The term comes from the phrase “Si vis pacem, para bellum.” This translates to “If you want peace, prepare for war.” Now, ‘Parabellum’ is officially part of the film’s title (for some reason). This might be due to several people assuming it was already in the title last year.
Back in July 2018, with ComingSoon.net, Reeves had this exchange about the title:
“ComingSoon.net: You’re currently shooting ‘John Wick 3,’ … To clarify, is it called ‘Chapter 3’ or ‘Parabellum?'”
Keanu Reeves: It’s both! ‘John Wick 3: Parabellum.'”
Either way, the debate is now over, and the trailer is finally on its way! Watch the trailer tease below!
‘John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum’ releases May 17, 2019. Returning cast members are Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Lance Reddick, and Ian McShane. Moreover, the new cast includes Halle Berry, Mark Dacascos, Asia Kate Dillon, Saïd Taghmaoui, Jerome Flynn, Jason Mantzoukas, Tobias Segal, Boban Marjanovic, and Anjelica Huston.
