Steven Soderbergh is already back to his old prolific ways. Having released his Netflix film ‘The Laundromat,’ and having already filmed two more films, ‘High Flying Bird’ for Netflix and ‘Let Them All Talk’ for HBO Max, not to mention producing ‘The Report’ with Scott Z. Burns, Soderbergh will soon return to one of his favorite film genres: crime.
Titled ‘Kill Switch,’ the film is written by Ed Solomon (‘Men in Black,’ ‘Mosaic’), has ‘Avengers: Endgame’ actors Josh Brolin, Don Cheadle, and Sebastian Stan in talks for leading roles. John Cena (‘Blockers,’ ‘Bumblebee’) is also eyed for a role.
The premise of ‘Kill Switch’ is below:
A crime drama, with elements of home invasion thriller, that is set in Detroit during the mid-‘50s. The film follows a group of criminals that are brought together under mysterious circumstances and have to work together to uncover what’s really going on when their simple job goes completely sideways. ‘Kill Switch’ features drama and suspense, as well as social commentary.
If a deal closes, Cheadle will play the lead in the film, who finds himself forced in the middle of the criminal proceedings, but with plenty of secrets of his own.
No word yet on which studio will fund it, but the star-studded cast has brought many studio eyes to the script. It will likely go to either Netflix or HBO Max. We’ll keep you posted as more news comes!
