Orion’s long-gestating third ‘Bill & Ted’ film now has musician Kid Cudi, aka Scott Mescudi, onboard the cast. His role is unknown.
Cudi has been branching out into acting over the past few years, with appearances in FOX/NBC’s ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine,’ Disney’s ‘Need for Speed,’ and Warner Bros.’ ‘Entourage.’ Next, he has Nicholas Jarecki’s ‘Dreamland,’ starring Armie Hammer, Gary Oldman, Evangeline Lilly, Greg Kinnear, Michelle Rodriguez, Luke Evans, and Lily-Rose Depp.
Keanu Reeves (‘John Wick’) and Alex Winter (‘The Lost Boys’) will be reprising their roles as the titular characters. Brigette Lundy-Paine (‘Atypical’) will play Billie Logan, the daughter of Ted “Theodore” Logan, while Samara Weaving (‘The Babysitter’) portrays Thea Preston, daughter of Bill S. Preston Esq. Also, William Sadler (‘The Shawshank Redemption’) is returning to play the Grim Reaper. The late George Carlin will also appear as Rufus in the form of archival footage.
The synopsis of the time-travel comedy is as follows:
“With the fabric of time and space tearing around them, a visitor from the future warns the duo that only their music can save life as we know it. Out of luck and inspiration, Bill and Ted set out on another time-travel adventure — with the help of their daughters, a new crop of historical figures and some sympathetic music legends — to seek the song that will set their world right and bring harmony in the universe as we know it.”
Moreover, director Dean Parisot (‘Galaxy Quest, RED 2’) is onboard. The screenplay is from returning scribes Chris Matheson (‘A Goofy Movie’) and Ed Solomon (‘Men in Black’). The veteran writing duo are responsible for ‘Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure’ and ‘Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey.’
Further, filming will begin June 24th and wrap August 17th in New Orleans and Los Angeles.
‘Bill & Ted Face the Music’ will release August 21, 2020.
