Kevin Feige Talks Multiple Infinity Gauntlets & Phase 4

Oct 1, 2015

While promoting the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron head huncho Kevin Feige was of course asked about the future of Marvel films. The Marvel Studios head does reveal that the two-part Infinity War series will be a culmination of the first 3 phase of the MCU and will “end” the Avengers we have come to know; with the birth of new Avengers in Phase 4:

“Well I think it definitely is an end to some version of the team that we’ve come to know as The Avengers. And I don’t know exactly whats going to happen yet in that film, but I think we start to hint at it at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron that the team will be evolving. But the ideas and ideals that make The Avengers still exist, and I think thats part of what makes this culmination will be: we’re seeing this version of the team doing this thing to save this universe, this galaxy, however you want to put it, and we’ll see where this goes. So its not the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it will be the end of part of it for sure. We’re still trying to sort out which parts. (laughs)”

Feige and Producer Jeremy Latchmen then was asked about why in the Marvel Cinematic Universe there are two Infinity Gauntlets. The right hand in Odin’s Treasure Room while the Left hand in the possession of Thanos the Mad Titan:

“It’s a great question. I may as well answer it because you asked it. Its not the same one. You will see the other two, sometime in phase three for sure. There’s a gauntlet that needs to be filled.”

Into which Jeremy Latchmen interjected “Which one do you think is the real one?” which actually angered Kevin Feige a bit and shot the producer a glance. What does he mean which is the real one? Does Loki provide Thanos with the right hand in recompense for failing in The Avengers? Does Thanos with the help of Surtur just invade Asgard for the second hand? Something that must be answered in Thor: Ragnarok.
