‘King Arthur’ Star Charlie Hunnam Doesn’t Want To Play ‘Green Arrow’ Or Any Superhero For That Matter

Mar 24, 2017

Most actors in Hollywood would love to bag a coveted superhero gig, it offers a big paycheck along with job security for a number of years.

With more and more opportunities arising within these huge cinematic universes, there’s plenty of superhero gigs still up for grabs, one of these being DC Comics Green Arrow.

For years fans have been fan-casting Charlie Hunnam as the Emerald Archer, hoping that one day that the former Sons of Anarchy star would join the DCEU and don the iconic blonde goatee.

In a recent interview with Yahoo Movies!, Hunnam was asked if he’d be interested in playing the Green Arrow or even joining one of the superhero cinematic universes?

Here’s what he said:

I didn’t grow up a comic book fan and I haven’t really seen any of those Marvel films or the Batman films. It’s just not really my taste. I must confess I don’t even really know who the Green Arrow is. … It’s not part of my vision for my career or what I aspire to.

Warner Bros haven’t announced any plans for the Green Arrow in the DCEU, at least in their current DC film slate.

There was interest in the character making his big screen debut back in 2008, with the studio hiring David Goyer and Justin Marks to pen a script for a movie called Green Arrow: Escape from Super Max.

Stephen Amell portrays the character on the TV show Arrow, which is currently on its fifth season airing on The CW.

What do you think of Charlie Hunnam ruling himself out of contention for the role if it ever came up?
