‘Kong: Skull Island’ Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts Teasing ‘Gambit’ Talks?

May 7, 2018

Omega Underground spotted on Jordan Vogt-Roberts‘ (Kong: Skull Island) Instagram a shoutout to three old-school X-Men video games. An interesting aspect here is that Gambit is a playable character (photo possibly angled to showcase Gambit?) in all three games, and as franchise producer Simon Kinberg confirmed last week they are meeting with directors.

Is the Kong: Skull Island director teasing involvement in those Gambit meetings?

He previously teased an interest in making a Marvel with this cheeky statement on Twitter.

“I want to direct a Marvel movie that features no superheroes. It would be an absurdist dramedy that follows a group of random humans who deal with that magic and aliens exist.”

Jordan is also a huge video game fan and is currently developing a Metal Gear Solid movie at Sony, but it doesn’t look like that is ready to go at the moment. This could give him a window to make a film before Metal gear. He directed a live-action ad for Destiny 2 and is working in some compacity on the upcoming video game Death Stranding.

Last we heard Gambit was now looking at June 19th production start and wrapping on September 29th with filming taking place in New Orleans.

Fox had set the new release date for June 7th, 2019.
