Doctor Strange and Sinister director Scott Derrickson is set to direct a sequel to cult favorite “Labyrinth” from Tristar Pictures, according to Deadline. Maggie Levin, writer of Hulu’s “My Valentine”, is set to pen the script. No other details have been given outside of The Jim Henson’s company returning as producing partners. Derrickson had previously been signed on to direct the follow-up Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness before exiting due to creative differences, with Raimi now taking the reigns behind the camera.
Labyrinth opened in the summer of 1986 to solid critical reviews but low box-office. It has developed a cult status in recent years, especially thanks to a show-stopping performance from the late David Bowie.
