‘Legion’s Noah Hawley Shooting Astronaut Flick ‘Pale Blue Dot’ In June

Dec 14, 2017

It might have come as a shock when it was announced that Fargo and Legion (co-produced with Marvel Television) series creator Noah Hawley would be tackling a solo Doctor Doom movie for 20th Century Fox (now becoming part of the Disney/Marvel family).

But it looks like that won’t be his feature film directorial debut as he’s now expected to make the sci-fi thriller Pale Blue Dot first.

The story follows a successful female astronaut who, after coming back home from a mission in space, starts to unravel when confronted by her seemingly-perfect American dream life.

We’ve learned a small update that the Fox Searchlight project is expected to begin filming in June and wrap sometime in September.

Reese Witherspoon was originally set to star but as Variety reported last month she had to exit to shoot the second season of HBO’s Big Little Lies. No word on who will replace Reese in the role.

As far as we know, there is still development on the Doctor Doom movie which Hawley was being tapped to both write and direct. Although, with the new deal with Disney it’s unknown how many of Fox’s Marvel projects will push past development phases.

Fox Searchlight has yet to give Pale Blue Dot a release date.
