Lionsgate ‘Power Rangers’ Reboot Pushed Back Until 2017

Apr 30, 2015

Word on Lionsgate upcoming Power Rangers reboot has minimal at best. All we know is that X-Men: First Class scribes Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz will be working closely with Roberto Orci (Star Trek, Transformers) on developing the script for Lionsgate. Now it has been announced that the film has been pushed back from it’s July 22nd, 2016 release date to January 13th, 2017.

This might raise some concerns given January is known as the “dump month” for feature films along with February. However that all changed when both American Sniper and The Lego Movie were massive successes in those months in years past. No word on casting has been revealed but The Flash and The DUFF star Robbie Amell has expressed interest in playing the Red Ranger in the upcoming reboot. I guess it’s time to go back and watch the rated-r Power/Rangers short film released this spring online.
