Marvel Studios is nearing its first new casting for the ‘Loki’ Disney+ series! Sophia Di Martino in talks to join the cast, but the character is unknown.
Di Martino was recently in ‘Yesterday,’ from director Danny Boyle. She was also in two episodes of the AMC series ‘Into the Badlands.’ Other credits include BBC One’s ‘Casualty,’ Sky’s ‘Mount Pleasant,’ and Channel 4’s ‘Flowers.’
Moreover, Tom Hiddleston will reprise his role as the titular character, marking his seventh appearance in the role.
The premise of the time travel series is below:
“The series will see the return of Loki (Hiddleston), from the altered 2012 timeline in ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ in a position where he doesn’t have all the answers and being thrown a curveball by life. The God of Mischief will appear throughout certain moments in human history as an unlikely influencer on historical events.”
Michael Waldron (‘Rick and Morty’) will serve as pilot writer and showrunner, with Kate Herron (‘Sex Education’) directing all six episodes.
Herron made a comment regarding the series at D23:
“We’re taking Loki into an entirely new part of the MCU. We love this character as much as you guys do and we just can’t wait to spend six hours with him.”
Executive producer Stephen Broussard also gave a statement:
“There is a huge time travel component. There will be a man-on-the-run quality to it, and we get to explore more human sides of Loki.”
Meanwhile, filming will begin at the top of 2020, possibly starting on January 28th in Atlanta.
Earlier this month, we at The GWW discovered that ‘Loki’ is holding the production company “Limbo Productions I LLC.” This may mean that this will be the first MCU Disney+ series to have multiple seasons, but we will just have to wait and see.
The series will premiere Spring 2021 on Disney+, after the release of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.’
