The RWBY shirt and Field Notes off the bat were my favorite items included in this months crate. Mainly because I’m a fan of RWBY and just about anything from the guys over at Rooster Teeth. This isn’t the first time Loot Crate has included field notes in their crates and I actually found them very useful, especially for a frequent convention goer like myself who has to take notes often. If you haven’t seen RWBY yet, you can catch it on Rooster Teeth.
Not one, but two shot glasses came in this crate and features the Tokyo Ghoul series on them. Tokyo Ghoul is an anime that I recently gotten into but haven’t finished due to the long list of anime’s already on my Queue. It’s currently on Funimation and Hulu and about 24 episodes long. I haven’t read the manga, so I’m not entirely sure how the anime compares to it but I love it so far. The series takes place in Tokyo where these violent creatures known as “ghouls” live alongside humans and crave human flesh. The main character, Ken Kaneki, is attacked by his date, who turns out to be a Ghoul. He barely survives the attack and wakes up in a hospital to find out he is now a half Ghoul himself.
The Soul Eater patch I have no use for. SE is another great series but the patch isn’t much my style. If you are a fan of the series, I guess it’s nice to have.
The manga included is called Noragami from Kodansha Comics. I haven’t read Noragami but If you are familiar with the series, I would love to hear your thoughts on it in the comments below. The series debuted in 2011 and I believe the anime is currently on Netflix; another to add to the queue.
Oni Bandana Mask: Oni translates as demons, devils, ogres or trolls, which is what’s depicted on the bandana itself. These types of chracters are often featured in Japanese culture such as art and books.
This months box came with an edible, Hot Chili Salad flavored Pretz. These Pretz are a snack popular in Japan. They are shaped similar to Pocky but taste more like pretzels. I actually haven’t had any other flavors aside from these but they are actually delicious.
Lastly, This month’s phone charm is of a mirror. I was curious why they went with a mirror but after doing some research I discovered that mirrors are often found at the center of paranormal activity legends. Some cultures believe that if a mirror was present in a room when a person died, their spirit could become trapped in the mirror.
So what did you think of this month’s Loot Anime? Leave your thoughts in the comments below? Also, What anime series would you like to see featured in Loot Anime. Personally, I would love to see something from Darker Than Black or Death Parade.
