Lucasfilm Might Want A ‘Han Solo’ Trilogy; Alden Ehrenreich Signs Three Picture Deal

Jul 25, 2016

A report from New York Daily News states that Lucasfilm has signed Han Solo actor Alden Ehrenreich to a three picture deal. Their insider stating that the Star Wars actor could be a central character in multiple films, it’s unknown if this deal excludes cameos in things like Rogue One or the in-development Boba Fett (said to include Han Solo role) movie.

It sounds like we could potentially get a trilogy of Han Solo movies, I’m just curious if Phil Lord and Chris Miller will stick around for it.

Disney has quietly signed the 26-year-old “Hail, Caesar!” star to a three-picture deal, insiders tell Confidential, paving the way for more Han Solo flicks if the one currently being written strikes gold at the box office.

“There is a real sense of excitement around the Han Solo movie and its potential,” says our insider. “Given that Han’s early adventures do not need to be tied to the Empire, it leaves story lines open with the opportunity to really give fans something different. They can explore new galaxies and crazy creatures and bring in a wide array of new characters.

“They feel that his character has the right potential to become a central figure in several movies,” our source said. “They’re keeping things under wraps at the moment, but the deal is that he has signed for at least three movies.”

Han Solo will begin shooting in London late January or early February of next year, with it’s release date slated for May 25th, 2018.
