Last Week, Mac Miller dropped his latest project, Swimming. It did not disappoint as this is a more mature Mac we’ve seen than his last two albums. His last album focused on love and about his previous relationship with artist Ariana Grande. GO:OD AM was a classic about drugs and the effects of raging too hard. There are several solid bangers on his latest album, you won’t want to sleep on this one. Mac has always been really deep and artistic, at the same time I feel he’s also underrated compared to most of these cats out here on the radio. Each album has been a development of his character and maturity. I feel like I’ve grown with artists like him and J. Cole through their respected albums. They really speak to me. Swimming is definitely a top to bottom album for me and I really get a great vibe jammin’ it. If you don’t know who Mac is, he was apart of the XXL ‘Freshman Class’ of 2011 with other current big time artist Kendrick, Meek and YG.
Along with his latest album, Mac joined NPR for a beautiful acoustic set on their weekly Tiny Desk concerts. Mac can be seen performing several tracks from his new album. One of the songs covered, ‘2009’, is one of my favorites along with ‘Whats the Use’ which features stunning instrumentals of Thundercat. This is Mac’s first time performing these live and it was fire!
