Marvel’s ‘Cloak and Dagger’ Gets 10-Episode Series Order; ‘The Runaways’ Still In Pilot Phase

Apr 5, 2017

Earlier today Disney’s SVP and general manager of Disney Media Distribution, EMEA Mark Endemano announced to executives that Freeform’s upcoming show Cloak & Dagger has been given a full 10-episode commitment. This comes after the pilot finished filming a few weeks ago. They then showed the crowd a small teaser for both that and Marvel’s Inhumans which has already been confirmed to be 8-episodes long.

He went to go on and say: “Cloak & Dagger is about character and emotion above all. It tells of a romance between Tandy and Tyrone in a way that we haven’t really seen before in a Marvel TV series. So think Romeo and Juliet though I can tell you that they won’t be dying at the end of the first episode!” He added a small tidbit on the Inhumans “I promise you, this is unlike anything you’ve ever seen before on television. It brings a richness and depth of storytelling,”

Next, we at Omega Underground have learned while Marvel is forging ahead with Cloak & Dagger as well as The Inhumans (Not to mention S.H.I.E.L.D and the Netflix Shows); currently, Marvel’s The Runaways which will debut on Hulu is still only in its pilot phase. which is odd considering streaming networks like Hulu usually give shows full series orders off the bat. However, don’t expect this to last long given The Runaways has a very strong fanbase and mass viewership appeal.

The Runaways and Cloak & Dagger will debut on Hulu and Freeform exclusively
