Casting news has been coming in steadily lately and Marvel has decided to seize this moment in the news cycle to let everyone know who they are casting in their newest series Inhumans for ABC.
After last weeks casting news involving the casting of both Maxiumus the Mad and the Inhuman king Black Bolt, Entertainment Weekly and Deadline are confirming that Marvel and ABC have cast Serinda Swan to play Black Bolt’s queen and Inhuman hero Medusa on the series set to debut in Imax theaters before its television run. Medusa is the Queen of the Inhumans and Black Bolt’s devoted wife. Beyond her superhuman strength, speed and agility, she has the ability to control every strand of hair on her head (which has the strength of iron wire) and use them at her will.
Swan is no stranger to the comic book world, having played the DC Comics character Zatanna on multiple episodes of Smallville. She has also had roles on Supernatural, Breakout Kings and most recently Graceland and HBO’s series Ballers. Swan joins Hell on Wheels actor Anson Mount and Game of Thrones alum Iwan Rheon on the series.
Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel Television could not be more thrilled with the casting choice saying about the actress, “Serinda empowers Medusa’s regal glory and still maintains a relatability that synced perfectly with the character.” “She is nothing short of wonderful.”
Inhumans showrunner Scott Buck also weighed in stating: “Serinda Swan brings a regal elegance, as well as a sense of great inner strength and fierce determination, to the role of Medusa. I couldn’t be happier to have her as our Queen of Attilan.”
Look for Inhumans to begin its Imax theatrical run in September before the series debuts in the fall.
