The Islands have been in-development for quite some time. The story that follows Captain Cook as he visits the native Hawaiian people and King Kamehameha all the way to the last reign of Queen Liliuokalani. The film has no cast but according to their main website are aiming to get a Hugh Jackman or Russell Crow in the lead as Captain Cook. With The Rock being looked at for another lead role. Open auditions on the film begin early this summer for the role of Queen Liliuokalani…

Now we at Omega Underground have learned that production will begin on the film October 10th in Hawaii:

Back in 2015, we reported from Phoenix Comic-Con that Jason Momoa was hard at work on a secret polynesian epic war film in the vein of Braveheart. But nothing has since come of that secret film. It’s unknown if this is the film he was working on but very well could have been at one point.

Lastly, the creative team behind this film expect this film to be nominated for Best Picture at the 2018 Oscars. So keep an eye out for the film when it debuts. Timothy A. Chey has boarded to write and direct the film.
