Thanks to an interview with The Playlist, we now know Matthew Vaughn’s ‘Kingsman 3’ will release in 2021, while filming will begin later this year or early next year. Vaughn once again serves as director, with a script from Vaughn and Jane Goldman, who wrote the previous two films.
The quote from Vaughn is below:
“And then we hope to shoot ‘Kingsman 3’ either late this year or early next year, but it won’t be out until 2021.”
Meanwhile, ‘Kingsman: The Great Game’ is the next film in the franchise. The movie is a period drama prequel, and not the final chapter to the pre-existing Harry Hart and Eggsy trilogy. (Again, that one is arriving in 2021.) Therefore, actors like Taron Egerton and Colin Firth will not be making appearances in this WWI-set movie. Additionally, the characters in ‘The Great Game’ may tie into the untitled ‘Kingsman 3.’ The cast includes Harris Dickinson, Ralph Fiennes, Daniel Brühl, Rhys Ifans, Gemma Arterton, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Charles Dance, Tom Hollander, Djimon Hounsou, and Stanley Tucci.
Further, this is only the start of the expanding ‘Kingsman’ universe. Vaughn is developing a ‘Statesman’ film based on the characters introduced in the second film ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle.’ Also, a ‘Kingsman’ an eight-hour miniseries is on the way, which is “complementary to the movies but different enough, otherwise what’s the point?,” as said by Vaughn.
‘Kingsman: The Great Game’ (or whatever they end up calling it) will release on February 14, 2020.
