May 21, 2018

In one of the biggest and coolest moves yet to come from the Austin production company, Rooster Teeth has teamed up with Michael B. Jordan to bring the main character from their upcoming series, gen:Lock to life. Jordan will voice Julian Chase, a New Yorker and former fighter pilot of the Vanguard. Gray Haddock, creator of the series and head of Rooster Teeth Animation, had previously described the character as, “charming, funny and the first guy to break the ice to make sure people are doing OK.”

“Michael’s visionary career choices and commitment to meaningful entertainment, not to mention his love of anime, line up perfectly with what drives Rooster Teeth. We’re thrilled for the opportunity to do some cool sci-fi storytelling together.”

Jordan’s Production Company, Outlier Productions, is co-producing the series.

Michael B Jordan addressed the announcement today via Instagram.

Synopsis:

“On the losing side of a global culture war, an Experimental Science Unit is pushed to identify a team of young pilots who can control a variety of prototype, next-generation mecha—giant, robotic, weaponized bodies. The recruits will find, however, that their newfound abilities come at no small cost.”

As Haddock mentioned, Michael is no stranger to anime and has even mentioned he is a fan of anime on multiple occasions on social media,

Jordan has had one hell of a year, starring in one of the biggest films of the year, Marvel’s Black Panther as well as the recent HBO film Fahrenheit 451 and is currently filming Creed 2 alongside Sylvester Stallone.

Rooster Teeth’s other brilliant series include the anime-style RWBY and Red vs Blue which has ran since 2003. Recently, the production company announced a Horror-Comedy Animated Series from It’s Always Sunny in Philadephia’s Rob McElhenney called “Spikeface” which is set to premiere in 2019.

The digital company has tuned out hit after hit making them one of the largest forces in digital media today! No official release date for gen:Lock but stay tuned!
