It’s 1926. Minky has followed the career of her father, highly acclaimed Private Detective Benedict Woodcock, since she was a child. Highly educated and an avid reader, she is only allowed to be her father’s secretary. Well, a chance to prove herself falls into her lap from a colleague of her father’s (and author that she reads the most) and it becomes so much bigger than she could ever have anticipated! This is the basis of Mindy Woodcock, The Girl Who Handcuffed Houdini.
I’ve never read a comic like this. Cynthia Von Buhler has her own style. She’s an artist, producer, writer, and so much more. Her unique writing style sucked me in immediately! The art is stunning and matched the characters so well that they are how I’d envision them without pictures in a novel. You can see her signature style and the passion in the art (She also paints and sculps). This comic is a perfect timepiece as well and I cannot wait for the next issue. If anyone could trick Houdini it’d be Minky. She can be in a room with a person for only moments and disguise her motives. I foresee something explosive awaiting her throughout her mystical journey and I highly recommend you pick this issue up!
I don’t read these types of comics, yet it kept my full attention and I’m excited to see what’s next. Amazing art and unique storyline.
