Neill Blomkamp’s ‘Inferno’: Taylor Kitsch Set for Lead Role; AGC Studios to Finance & Produce the Sci-Fi Film

Oct 24, 2019

‘Inferno,’ the next film from writer-director Neill Blomkamp, will be lead by Taylor Kitsch. AGC Studios will finance and produce the movie.

Kitsch was recently in the Paramount Network miniseries ‘Waco’ and HBO’s ‘True Detective.’ For film roles, he was Remy LeBeau, aka Gambit, in Fox’s ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ and the titular character in Disney’s ‘John Carter.’ Next, he will appear in STX’s ’21 Bridges,’ releasing November 22nd.

Blomkamp was teasing this project back in August, when he left ‘RoboCop Returns.’

Moreover, the premise of the science-fiction thriller is below:

“A cop (Kitsch) must investigate a seemingly ordinary murder in the New Mexico desert. The arrival of the FBI confirms his suspicions that something much bigger — perhaps even extra-terrestrial — is at play. The hunt for the killer soon puts him face-to-face with a humanoid beast who will stop at nothing to exterminate the one witness to the crime. The story explores the uneasy balance between humans and alien life all within a gritty and realistic action film genre.”

Meanwhile, Blomkamp has kept himself busy helming short films as of late, mostly under Oats Studios, his independent film studio he started in 2017. He is popular for co-writing and directing Sony’s ‘District 9.’ Other feature film credits include 2013’s ‘Elysium’ and 2015’s ‘Chappie,’ both from Sony.

Moreover, pre-production should be starting soon in New Mexico, according to GameFAQs. Filming will begin early next year.

A release date has not been set as of now.
