Netflix Announces Millarworld Series ‘Jupiter’s Legacy’ and ‘American Jesus’

Jul 18, 2018

Yesterday, it was announced that a whole wave of films and series featuring characters from Millarworld would be coming to Netflix. The streaming service recently made a huge play for the comic book genre as they bought the rights to many Mark Millar’s comics.

Well, one of the announcements that jumped out to use is that they’ve hired Daredevil showrunner Steven S. DeKnight to handle the reigns on their series adaptation of Jupiter’s Legacy. Knight recently directed Pacific Rim: Uprising.

A multi-generational American superhero epic that follows the world’s first generation of superheroes who received their powers in the 1930’s. In present day they are the revered elder guard, but their super-powered children struggle to live up to the legendary feats of their parents.

Another one is an English-Spanish series based on Millar’s American Jesus with Everardo Gout and Leopoldo Gout set as co-showrunners. Gout has directed episodes of Luke Cage.

A twelve-year-old boy who suddenly discovers he’s returned as Jesus Christ. He can turn water into wine, make the crippled walk, and, perhaps, even raise the dead.

When they’ll start dropping these shows is a little unknown at the moment but with Netflix primed to focus more on their original content we could end up seeing these shows sometime next year.
