Netflix’s Emmy-winning anthology sci-fi series ‘Black Mirror’ now includes Anthony Mackie and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. We do not know what roles they have, or even if they’ll be in the same episode.
Mackie is popular for his role of Sam Wilson aka Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He recently came back to reprise the role in last year’s ‘Avengers: Infinity War.’ He was also recently in Kathryn Bigelow’s ‘Detroit,’ George Tillman Jr.’s ‘The Hate U Give,’ and Catherine Hardwicke’s ‘Miss Bala.’ Next, on the television side, he will be in the second season of Netflix’s ‘Altered Carbon,’ currently in production. For film, he has Joe Wright’s ‘The Woman in the Window,’ releasing October 4th, and Benedict Andrews’ ‘Against All Enemies.’
Abdul-Mateen was recently in the blockbuster ‘Aquaman’ as the villain Black Manta. He was another villain in Netflix’s ‘The Get Down.’ This year, he has Jordan Peele’s ‘Us,’ releasing March 22, and Damon Lindelof’s ‘Watchmen’ series, which will release later this year on HBO. Also, he is in talks for the lead role of Nia DaCosta ‘Candyman’ spiritual sequel, from co-writer Jordan Peele.
The series is from creator and writer Charlie Brooker (‘Dead Set’). Each episode employs a different cast of actors to explore themes to focus on the collision of mankind’s unforgiving technology.
But, Netflix has yet to give any details on the upcoming fifth season, not even a release date.
