Newcomer Kimi Alexander In The Mix For ‘New Mutants’ Role?
Young actress Kimi Alexander (iZombie) might be in the mix for a supporting role in Fox’s New Mutants which will be shooting soon in Boston and Montreal.
Kimi happens to follow and be followed by New Mutants director Josh Boone. The Canadian actress is somewhat a newcomer, so it would a bit odd that Boone would be following her out of the blue. Then again, Josh is following all his New Mutants cast members on Instagram including newbie Blu Hunt (Mirage).
She recently posted this image four days ago on Instagram. It seemingly hints to booking a big role after recording an audition tape. The post included references Wonder Woman, Psylocke, and Mantis. Suggesting the role is indeed comic book film related and two out of three were supporting roles played by Asian actresses.
Kimi also has a kickboxing background and has done some fight training which is always a plus for an X-Men role. Hiring a Canadian that works on both sides of the border would also be a bonus, as the film is expected to shoot in Montreal at the tail-end of production.
Omega Underground recently uncovered a new female role for the film which is looking for Asian actress between the ages of 18-22 back on June 12th. Alexander happens to be 21 and seemingly is of Japanese/Asian descent (as social media would suggest). So, she would fit this unnamed supporting role.
We originally suspected this role could be either founding member Xi’an Coy Manh aka Karma or newish character Hisako Ichiki aka Armor. Although, nothing has been made official.
While this is indeed speculation on our part things piece together well here.
Production will begin next month in July and its release date is set for April 13th, 2018.
