DC really should have gone down this road sooner.
That doesn’t mean they needed to completely omit the Ric Grayson era. Obviously, that crystal came for that run, and it’s clearly quite important to what’s going on now.
The only reason I bring that up is both Nightwing #71 and #72 have moved the story in a much more exciting direction. And we have an understanding of why Nightwing is the way he is now. With the whole Ric situation, it didn’t add up. That’s OK sometimes, but that whole experience was infuriating.
Speaking of that stretch, seems like Sap isn’t going to be the same again. It’s clear as day that the Nightwings are going to have something to say about the Joker’s plan. Something says one of them will inadvertently be the one to break the Court of Owls’ crystal.
For a little while — not in Nightwing #72 — I thought the Nightwings might attack Grayson for what he did as Talon. But I don’t think they’ll be able to put two and two together.
Nightwings will end up going after Dick. Not sure how that’ll work out for all the parties involved, but these people aren’t exactly of sound mind.
Which is why I don’t understand Batgirl going after Nightwing alone. She’s too smart for that. Everything Bea told here about Dick in the aftermath of Joker’s visit didn’t make sense. How could she not see a new Joker scheme had been set in motion?
Still, all of this is a huge breath of fresh air when compared to what we’d been reading for some time.
