When and at What Time?
While some rumors had been floating around Reddit over the weekend, Nintendo has officially announced a Nintendo Direct is coming our way Wednesday, September 13th, 3 p.m. PT / 6 p.m. ET., which is pretty late in the day.
How Long and What Is The Focus On?
The biggest piece of news here is that the Direct will be 45 minutes long! Nintendo has explained that it will mostly be focused on what’s headed to Nintendo Switch and 3DS over the next few months, including new details about Super Mario Odyssey. So this will serve as a giant blowout of announcements for what is happening for the rest of 2017 and possibly even what awaits us in early 2018.
What Might We See?
The Nintendo Switch has been a huge and somewhat unexpected success for Nintendo through the console/handheld hybrid’s first six months. Wednesday’s Nintendo Direct will certainly try to build even more hype to carry that success through the holiday season and into the new year.
With Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon coming to 3DS this fall, there will most certainly be some more news on those titles. Although the Switch and 3DS are the main focus, Nintendo has been especially veiled when it comes to the upcoming Animal Crossing mobile game. Perhaps we’ll get some news on that?
Furthermore, my hopes are that Nintendo won’t spoil too much of Super Mario Odyssey. I don’t mind them providing a final “hype-push” for it but I think it has already solidified itself as very anticipated title for many consumers. To focus on something non-gaming related, I would be delighted if Nintendo shared some announcements on media streaming platforms like YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Video coming to the Nintendo Switch soon.
That’s the news and those are some of the things I’m hoping to see. WHAT ABOUT YOU? What would you like to see from the upcoming Nintendo Direct?
