We’ve been beating the drum that British actor Ben Hardy would be playing the villainous version of Angel in X-Men Apocalypse, his character’s baddie alter-ego Archangel is one of Apocalypse’s Four Horsemen.
The Four Horsemen along with Oscar Isaac‘s Apocalypse are expected to be the main villains of the film, as revealed at the end of Days of Future Past.
Bryan Singer has revealed to Empire a new piece of concept artwork which he confirms is indeed Ben Hardy as Angel, but also hints it’s the villainous version of him. This supports our previous assumptions that Hardy will be playing an antagonist in the sequel. A big give away is all the metal intertwined with Warren’s wings.
“Ben Hardy is Angel – I shall confirm it for you!” said Singer. “But he’s not a very nice Angel! And that’s all I’ll say…”
After The Wrap had suggested Singer was looking at casting a new actress to play mutant telepath Psylocke, this also gave us the impression that her villainous background as a Horsemen and romance with Archangel would be explored in the film. Seeing this likely confirmation that Hardy is playing Archangel in the film, we should expect to see Psylocke possibly taking another spot on the Four Horsemen team as well.
