Overview
OpenAI is offering a $1m grant program for the development of democratic methods for determining rules governing AI systems. The grants will be sent to 10 successful applicants, each of whom will receive $100,000 from OpenAI’s non-profit wing, OpenAI Inc. The money will be used to design and test concepts as part of the company’s wider effort to create a regulatory infrastructure surrounding generative AI. It has also proposed the creation of an organisation to issue regulations similar to the International Atomic Energy Agency. OpenAI is calling for interested parties to share their ideas on how generative AI performance should be governed based on public feedback and votes.
