Variety reports that Oscar-nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld (Edge of Seventeen, True Grit, Pitch Perfect 3) is now in talks with Paramount to land the lead role in their Transformers spinoff Bumblebee.
It’s nice to see a real actress in the mix for a lead role in one of these films.
The film will be directed by fellow Oscar-nominee Travis Knight (Kubo and The Two Strings) with a script penned by Christina Hodson.
It’s unknown where the film takes place within the timeline of the franchise as it could very well be set outside of it.
Bumblebee is set for release on June 8th, 2018 (likley getting moved due to Han Solo).
