There’s been much speculation on who will end up playing the role of Cable in Deadpool 2, but we have an interesting development concerning an Oscar-winner.
During an exchange with Deadpool and X-Force creator Rob Liefeld, Rob asked Russell Crowe to read for the role of Nathan Summers aka Cable. Crowe did respond in an interesting way.

We should remind folks that Crowe and Wolverine’s Hugh Jackman have been good friends for years, I think all Ryan would need is to get Hugh to give him call.
Between roles in the underrated R-rated comedic buddy flick The Nice Guys along with more action-focused roles in Man of Steel and Gladiator. We could totally see Russell playing the part and is the level of talent we’d like to see in the role. Also, he’s not too old to tackle an action role like this for the next decade.
Deadpool 2 will be returning to Vancouver and Russell isn’t a stranger to the city as he shot Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel there.

Deadpool 2 is currently casting roles and is expected to begin filming on May 1st in Vancouver.
