Big news came out of San Diego Comic-Con this past week in the horror community. All the posters and trailers we saw for The Woods was a clever bait and switch move.
Lionsgate finally took off our blindfold and introduced us to the real name of the film Blair Witch.
I was flabbergasted that there would be another sequel to the 1999 film The Blair Witch Project. It is one of my top 30 horror movies of all time. The movie that all found footage films are compared to. My question is where in the trilogy of films does this take place? Will it be after Blair Witch Project 2: The Book of Shadows? Will Lionsgate completely ignore that there was a part two? I know a lot of people dislike the second film but I enjoyed it. Maybe one of the few people who did. It actually dove deeper into the original story. Was it great? No, but it did keep you interested in this fantastic story. Enough of my tangent because I really want to see this movie become a success.
Blair Witch is about A group of college students who venture into the Black Hills Forest in Maryland to uncover the mysteries surrounding the disappearance of James’ sister who many believe is connected to the legend of the Blair Witch. At first the group is hopeful, especially when a pair of locals offer to act as guides through the dark and winding woods, but as the endless night wears on, the group is visited by a menacing presence. Slowly, they begin to realize the legend is all too real and more sinister than they could have imagined.
Blair Witch will be in theaters nationwide on September 16th where once again we get to visit Coffin Rock the most famous rock since Plymouth.
