Paramount Announces ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ Reboot To Be Released in 2021

Dec 18, 2017

Today, in some surprising news Paramount Pictures has announced that a brand new Dungeons and Dragons movie is in the works. And will be slated for July 23, 2021. Not much is known about the project but it’s been in development for a while since Stranger Things made the board game relevant again. When the project was at Warner Brothers Rob Letterman (Goosebumps, Detective Pikachu) was hired to direct the film with a script by David Leslie Johnson. It’s unknown if this version of the film will be based off that script.

The original film from 2000 is considered one of the worst fantasy films of all time so it’s not surprising it took this long for a reboot. Duncan Jones dipped his hand in fantasy films with Warcraft based on the video game but it didn’t do well domestically to warrant a sequel. However, with the success of Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones, it’s not surprising more studios are trying to get their own fantasy franchise off the ground.
