Paramount Developing a ‘Captain Planet’ Live-Action Film

Back in the early 90’s the cult classic cartoon Captain Planet debuted on TV screens everywhere. The show revolved around a group of racially diverse teenagers who could control a different element and when they put their powers together could call upon the superhero Captain Planet. Captain Planet Along with the teens would help spread environmental awareness to young viewers.

Now, The Hollywood Reporter announced that Paramount Pictures along with Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company Appian Way will revive the cartoon for modern audiences in a live-action feature film. The movie has no director or writer attached but is described as “years after the adventures of the show, with the Captain now a washed up hasbeen who needs the kids more than they need him.” DiCaprio will also produce the project.
