Okay, so how’d I miss out on this!? And for two weeks! The first real look into footage from the upcoming third season of Penny Dreadful. I have to thank Instagram’s “search” tab under “trending” and explore posts,” and maybe myself for double-tapping on way too many photos of the show.

Oh my gosh, are we being set-up for Dracula!? I sure hope so. Enough teasing of “satan.” We know who’s trying to attract Vanessa Ives, who else could have scared Helen McCrory’s witch character last season?

If you’re a fan of the show, then it’ll just make you happy to see more Eva Green, Josh Hartnett and Timothy Dalton in some utterly peculiar and morally ambiguous situations. And they’re not alone in that either. If given the chose, I’d list every cast member’s name and credit them all for stellar performances week-after-week. Ask me and I’d argue that Eva Greene more than deserves and earns the Golden Globe, Critics Choice Television and Satellite award nominations she has received. But she has to win something before this show’s time is up, she’s that stunning.

For the uninitiated, first off, shame on you because Penny Dreadful takes a hammer and nails its adaptations of Victorian Era London, Wolf Man, Frankenstein and his monster, Dorian Gray, etc. Also, the other draw besides performance and adaptation are the visuals, yes, but the writing by John Logan is nothing short of brilliant. I’ll leave you with three from the trailer alone:

  1. “You think you know sin? I wrote the bloody book!” ~ Dorian Gray
  2. “I am made for the dark.” ~ Ethan Chandler
  3. “All the broken and shunned creatures, someone’s got to care for them if not us.” ~ Dracula?

Penny Dreadful returns May 1 at 10 p.m. for nine episodes.

My current editor, Jaden Daly, wrote the following mini-bio of me for his website A Daly Dose Of Hoops, and I’m posting it here because it’s one of the coolest things anyone has done for me. I’ll be forever thankful to him. Thank you, Jaden. "Jonathan joined the Daly Dose Of Hoops staff in the fall of 2016, and will serve as the primary source of coverage for Wagner College and the Northeast Conference. In addition to his work on this site, he is also the editor-in-chief of his own website, The “J” Effect, as well as a columnist for TheGWW.com. His industry background is extensive, having served in the past as a breaking news intern at the Staten Island Advance and its website, SILive.com, and also as a sports intern at the Riverdale Press. A 2016 graduate of Manhattan College, Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications, with a concentration in journalism. During his time at the Riverdale institution, he wrote for Manhattan’s student newspaper; The Quadrangle, beginning as a staff writer before ultimately assuming the positions of senior writer, assistant editor; and ultimately, sports editor. His work for the Quadrangle earned him Manhattan’s Excellence in Journalism, Best Sports News Article, and Most Prolific awards, as well as nominations for eight similar awards in his four-year tenure. His in-depth profile on Steve Masiello, compiled in April 2016, still stands as one of the most comprehensive pieces written about the head coach since Masiello was hired by Manhattan in 2011."
