Serving tea. Providing wise psychological counseling. And kicking ass. All, of course, are skills requisite of Batman’s butler, Alfred Pennyworth. Skills which we get to see on his titular TV series.
And now, we’ll be seeing even more of it! ‘Pennyworth,’ which airs on Epix, has had a second season commissioned by the network.
Epix issued the following statement:
“‘Pennyworth’ has been a big hit for us, embraced by critics and fans alike[…]It was the highest-performing original series ever to premiere on Epix, more than doubling the viewership of the shows that came before it. Bruno Heller, Danny Cannon and WBTV have delivered a brilliant, must watch series. We can’t wait to work with this phenomenal cast and creative team on another exciting season.”
The cast comprises of Jack Bannon, Ben Aldridge, Emma Paetz, Ryan Fletcher, Hainsley Lloyd Bennett, Dorothy Atkinson, Ian Puleston-Davies, Paloma Faith, Polly Walker, and Jason Flemyng.
The premise is below:
“A Batman pre-prequel of sorts, ‘Pennyworth’ follows Alfred Pennyworth (Bannon), a former British SAS soldier who goes to work with young billionaire Thomas Wayne (Aldridge), who has not yet become Bruce Wayne’s father, in 1960s London.”
The ten episode second season will commence production in the United Kingdom next January, with an eye on a 2020 premiere.
