Peyton Reed Wanted Rick Moranis For ‘Ant-Man’ Cameo and Teases He Could Play Scott’s Father In ‘Ant-Man 3’

Jul 10, 2018

While speaking with ScreenJunkies for Honest Reactions, director Peyton Reed revealed he wanted comedian Rick Moranis (Ghostbusters, Spaceballs, SCTV, Honey I Shrunk The Kids, Little Shop of Horrors) to cameo in the first film and alludes he could try again for Ant-Man 3.

Teasing the comedic actor could end up playing Scott Lang’s unseen father.

The funny thing about Rick potentially playing Scott’s father is that he is 65, while Paul Rudd is 49. The two only have a 16 year age difference and in the real world they would play brothers, but Rudd obviously doesn’t look his age due to being an immortal. However, the comedic timing and improv could be fun to see even if it’s only a scene or two.

Rick retired from acting years ago (does voice acting from time-to-time) but has come out for a recent Netflix SCTV anniversary special which was directed by Martin Scorsese and a live SCTV reunion special for charity. I’m sure they could find a way to coax him for a tiny cameo, if they promised to donate to a charity of his choice.

There hasn’t been any official announcements concerning an Ant-Man 3, but the sequel outpacing the first film’s opening weekend there is a very good chance it will happen.
