For over two decades the phenomenon known as Pokémon has been sweeping the globe. From anime to games to merchandise, these adorable Pocket Monsters have won the hearts and minds of millions of all ages. Earlier this year we got a first, the first live-action Pokémon film named Pokémon Detective Pikachu. Starring Justice Smith, Kathryn Newton and the voice talents of Ryan Reynolds, this has been a movie that fans have been desiring for years.
The special features included with the movie are extremely enjoyable. Along with behind the scenes looks at how they built Ryme City and the five dozen Pokémon seen in the film, there was background videos on the actors and their experiences with the film as well as their Pokémon history. However, by far, the best of all the features was Detective Mode. In this mode, the film is enhanced by information about the Pokémon on screen as well as how they put together the world in that scene. If you’ve seen and enjoy shows that have Pop-Ups then this is your mode to watch!
