‘Punisher’ Showrunner Hints At Barracuda and O’Brien For Season 2

Nov 24, 2017

I think it’s safe to say that The Punisher might be one of the stronger Marvel shows in the last little while and fans are already curious what a second season might look like, due to the lack of Easter Eggs in season one outside of setting up Jigsaw as a future villain.

Showrunner Steve Lightfoot spoke with the Hollywood Reporter mentioning a desire to return to Billy Russo in multiple seasons but also hinted at two other characters that could make their onscreen debut. Lightfoot mentions an interest to see hulking villain Barracuda and former CIA Agent Kathryn O’Brien show up in the next season.

“I haven’t even thought about season two … but one of the villains I love is Barracuda [from Garth Ennis’ Punisher MAX series]. I think he’s great fun. I also really like O’Brien [also introduced in Ennis’ Punisher MAX run]. I thought she was always really cool. Certainly those two jump out at me initially, but there are so many great characters there. It’s a very fun sandbox to play in.”

Netflix and Marvel Television have yet to announce a second season but it seems like a sure thing considering it had a better reception than Iron Fist and Defenders.
